RAPAPORT... Proceeds from Heritage Auctions’ jewelry events jumped by more than half in 2021, the company reported following a strong final auction of the year.
Its Holiday Jewelry Signature Auction, which took place earlier this month, registered sales of $4.7 million, the Dallas, Texas-based company said recently. That brought sales for the category to more than $21 million since the start of 2021, a 52% increase versus 2019.
The leading item at the December 6 sale was a platinum ring featuring a round brilliant-cut, 5.93-carat, F-color, VVS2-clarity diamond surrounded by two diamonds with tapered-baguette cuts. The piece fetched $206,250, within its presale estimate of $175,000 to $225,000.
Meanwhile, a platinum Van Cleef & Arpels ring containing an oval-shaped, 21.56-carat sapphire and some smaller diamonds sold for $187,500. A radiant-cut, 16.52-carat, fancy-light-yellow, SI2-clarity diamond in a gold ring brought in $162,500.
