Mountain Province has hired three executives to its leadership team following the appointment of a new CEO late last year.

Steven Thomas will become vice president of finance, secretary and chief financial officer, the miner said Thursday. Previously, Thomas spent 10 years as the chief financial officer of De Beers Canada. He will succeed Perry Ing, who will leave the company on February 19.

April Hayward, who has many years of experience in Canada’s Northwest Territories as well as with Mountain Province’s Gahcho Kué mine and Kennady exploration projects, will become chief sustainability officer. Meanwhile, Matt MacPhail has been appointed chief technical officer. He was formerly the vice president of corporate development and technical services.

Among the goals of the new team will be to reduce the miner’s carbon footprint and manage its debts, said CEO Mark Wall, who joined the company in November. Additionally, the executives will work on ways to extend the mine life of Gahcho Kué and pursue new exploration activities on the land adjacent to the deposit, he added.
