Dhamani Jewels has joined the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), becoming the first retailer from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to do so.

“We believe that our commitment to the implementation of the Code of Practices will help us strengthen our management systems and build greater sustainability throughout our supply chain,” Dhamani CEO Amit Dhamani said last week. “Consumer confidence is our priority. It is all about trust.”

The RJC is looking to expand its presence across the Middle East, one of the fastest-growing regions for jewelry, the organization noted.

“We look forward to understanding how the Code of Practices will support [Dhamani] in integrating sustainability at the core of their business strategy,” said RJC executive director Iris Van der Veken. “We hope it will encourage other companies in the Middle East to follow their direction.”

Dhamani was established in 1969 and has three boutiques in the UAE. It also operates its Dusoul, Dhamani Jewels and Dhamani 1969 brand stores in 13 locations across the emirates.
