RAPAPORT... An Art Deco Cartier bracelet set with 101 carats of Colombian emeralds could go for up to $1.3 million at an upcoming jewelry sale at Bonhams, the auction house predicted.

The piece, which was designed in 1926, is from the collection of American heiress Hélène Irwin Crocker Fagan, the daughter of sugar baron William Irwin, Bonhams said last week. Another Cartier item belonging to the heiress is a tiara made in 1914, set with an old European-cut, 8.25-carat diamond and natural pearls weighing a total of 5.50 carats. That piece is estimated to fetch up to $450,000 at the May 24 New York Jewels sale.

A ring bearing a marquise brilliant-cut, 17.25-carat, H-color, VVS2-clarity diamond is set to go under the hammer for up to $550,000, while a ring by Bailey Banks & Biddle is expected to bring in between $300,000 and $500,000. That piece contains a cushion mixed-cut, 8.17-carat Kashmir sapphire, accented by tapered baguette-cut diamonds.

Meanwhile, a pear-shaped step-cut, 13.39-carat Colombian emerald ring carries a high estimate of $200,000, and a sapphire and diamond necklace is expected to garner up to $150,000.

Bonhams will also feature a collection of jewels from socialite Lady Sylvia Ashley, who was married to two lords, a prince, and Hollywood icons Douglas Fairbanks, Sr., and Clark Gable. Those include an Art Deco aquamarine bracelet by Cartier and a geometric diamond charm bracelet by Van Cleef & Arpels. In addition, jewelry owned by legendary Hollywood actress Bette Midler will go up for auction, including a yellow sapphire and diamond feather brooch by Tiffany & Co. and a pair of ear clips from Buccellati.
