RAPAPORT... During wholesale club Costco's fourth quarter conference call for fiscal 2007, the company's chief financial officer Richard Galanti said full-year profits fell 2 percent to $1 billion. Sales rose 7 percent to $63.09 billion.

Jewelry sales softened, Galanti said, but he noted that the amount of diamonds sold rose.

"What was amazing to me is -- I know diamonds as an example in 2007 in carats was up 5 percent so I'm sure in dollars was up a little more than that."

Costco does not break-out jewelry or diamond sales as a separate item.
