RAPAPORT... Rio Tinto has launched its inaugural sustainable jewelry collection. The collection, named "Nature's Beauty," uses gold from Rio Tinto's Kennecott Utah Copper mine in the U.S., with white and champagne diamonds from its Argyle Diamond Mine in Australia.

The company explained that the Nature’s Beauty collection is a pilot project that will be tested in the U.S., the world’s largest retail diamond jewelry market. The collection comprised of earrings, rings, necklace and cuffs was first showcased at the JCK Luxury show in Las Vegas.

“Today’s consumer is looking for assurance that the jewelry they buy has been produced to the highest ethical, social and environmental standards,” said Jean-Marc Lieberherr, chief commercial officer at Rio Tinto Diamonds.
