RAPAPORT... Lita Asscher, the president of Royal Asscher of America,  and art specialist Anna-Sophia van Zweden have partnered for  a unique, limited-edition collection exclusively for MTV RE:DEFINE. The one-of-a-kind collection will be auctioned at The MTV Staying Alive Foundation’s AIDS Benefit Art Exhibition and Auction, RE:DEFINE, presented by the Goss-Michael Foundation in Dallas, Texas on September 22 from 7p.m. to 12 a.m.

The collection’s inspiration was drawn from famous works of art combined with Royal Asscher’s patented jewelry innovation, Stars of Africa. The jewelry consists of diamonds, sapphires and rubies encased in a fluid-filled sapphire dome, which allows them to fall freely, much like snowflakes in a snow globe.  mtv

One year ago, this charity event raised more than $700,000. This year, the silent auction will feature a VIP package to the launch of Stella McCartney’s new collection in New York, unique jewelry by Royal Asscher and a private concert orchestrated by Musical America’s “Conductor of the Year 2012,” Jaap van Zweden.

Prior to the evening's festivities, however, Asscher and Anna-Sophia van Zweden will host a private, exclusive viewing of the Royal Asscher collection alongside Royal Asscher’s complete Stars of Africa floating diamonds at The Joule Hotel on September 21,  from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to take a first glimpse at these pieces and purchase their favorite design.

Asscher said, “Throughout the years,  it has remained  incredibly important to us as a family and as a company to support causes aiming to make a positive difference in the world. MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation is an excellent organization working to change the lives of millions and we are honored to use our passion for jewelry and art to help them continue this important work.”
