24 Karat Club SE Welcomes New Members, Officers

Press Release: The 24 Karat Club Southeastern United States (SEUS) hosted its 39th annual black-tie banquet at the elegant Atlanta Country Club in Georgia on Saturday, August 3. The elite event was well attended with over 200 leaders of the jewelry industry and their guests enjoying an evening of networking and recognition. 
The event began with the announcement of the club’s 2013-2014 slate of officers and board members.  Officers for the coming year are: SEUS's president, Robert Loving of Time Delay; vice president, Bill Newnam of Southern Jewelry News; treasurer,  Keely Grice of Grice Showcase & Display; secretary, Randy Lindsey of Jack R. Lindsey Co.; executive secretary, Judy Carter of Judy Carter & Associates; immediate past president, Terry Chandler of the Diamond Council of America.  Members of the board of directors are: Steve Berkowitz of Sterling Reputation; Sheri Ihde of Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company; Howard Kelrick of Fingermate Inc.; David Peters of Jewelry Consultant; Louis Scholz of Fine Jewelry by Louis and Carolyn Woltz-Lennon of Simon Golub. new members

Additionally, the club inducted three new members (pictured left to right): Joseph Shapiro, the co-owner The Edge by Abbott & Shapiro, Melissa Becker, the assistant vice president of sales and marketing for Berkley Asset Protection and Craig Danforth, AJP, GP and director of global business development for the Gemological Institute of America.

A highlight of the evening was the announcement of the 24 Karat Club 2013 Jeweler of the Year. The prestigious honor was posthumously awarded to Mitchell (Mitch) James Mobley of The Mobley Company Jewelers in Villa Rica, Georgia.  Mobley tragically lost his life during a robbery of his store in June.  Mobley was a well-respected retailer and known for his strong dedication to family, community and the jewelry industry.
