Jewelry, Luxury Brand Website Traffic Increases

RAPAPORT... As the Christmas gift-giving season approaches, website traffic to jewelers and luxury goods brands tends to increase, which comScore Inc. measured and scored for the month of October based upon the top 10 gaining site categories.

The greatest increase in unique visitors came from the ''retail - mall'' category, which jumped 61 percent in October to 22.7 million visitors compared with September. Other top categories included flowers, gifts and greeting cards, up 32 percent; car rental, up 30 percent; tax preparation, up 24 percent; news and information, up 21 percent; toys, up 14 percent; fragrances, up 12 percent; beauty and fashion, up 11 percent and jewelry and luxury goods, which rose 9 percent to 18.7 million unique visitors.

According to comScore, the U.S. has a total Internet audience of about 225.2 million unique visitors. The top five web properties in October, in order, were Yahoo!, Google, Microsoft sites, Facebook and AOL, with the top retail website, Amazon.com, ranking in  sixth place.
