Israel's Polished Exports +6% to $5B

RAPAPORT... Israel’s polished diamond exports rose 6 percent year on year to $4.95 billion in the first nine months of 2014, according to data published by the Economy Ministry. By volume, polished exports fell 4 percent to 1.949 million carats, while the average price  rose 10 percent to $2,540 per carat.

Israel’s polished imports, meanwhile, grew 5 percent to $3.2 billion during the first nine months of the year. The country’s net polished exports, representing the exports minus imports, increased 8 percent to $1.75 billion.

Rough diamond imports to Israel rose 6 percent to $3.03 billion although the volume of imports fell 17 percent to 7.213 million carats. Rough exports increased 9 percent to $2.45 billion and net rough imports, representing imports minus exports, dropped 8 percent to $579 million.

During the period, Israel's net diamond account, which represents total exports of polished and rough minus total imports, rose 17 percent to $1.171 billion.
