RAPAPORT... The co-owner of Rafaello & Co. in Manhattan, Aron Aranbayev, was killed Sunday in what appears to have been an intentional hit-and-run incident, following an argument. The 40-year-old Aranbayev was known for providing jewelry to hip-hop celebrities, including Jay-Z, Drake and Busta Rhymes, from his  Diamond District store.

Aranbayev was hit by a car after being dropped off near his home in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens. A driver of a dark-colored Dodge Magnum started yelling at Aranbayev when forced to wait while the jeweler moved out of the road and exited his vehicle, the New York Daily News reported. The driver then returned to his car and backed up into Aranbayev, who fell and hit his head on the pavement and later died at a local hospital.

Rafaello & Co.  previously made  headlines this year after suing rapper and music producer DJ Khaled for alleging failing to pay for $100,000 of merchandise sent to him to try on and either return or purchase. Khaled recently counter-sued the store for fraud, alleging that they misrepresented and overcharged him for previous merchandise he bought from the store.

Police and local media did not suggest any link between the Khaled case and Aranbayev’s hit-and-run.
