RAPAPORT... Sarine Technologies has released a
system for inclusion mapping of small diamonds called Meteor that could
increase the speed of scanning to 220 stones per day.
The Israeli equipment maker, which
focuses on technology for the evaluation, planning, processing, finishing, grading
and trade of diamonds and gemstones, said in a statement that the new system was
designed to provide “faster, cost-effective” inclusion mapping for the 0.25-0.85 carat segment of rough diamonds.
It said the trial had shown the
technology – based on Sarine’s existing Galaxy system – to be capable of
scanning more than 220 diamonds per day, which it said would significantly speed
up scanning for manufacturers.
Sarine CEO Uzi Levami said in a
statement: “The proven Galaxy technology is now implemented in a system
specifically targeted at the smaller stone segment, enabling a fast, efficient
inclusion mapping solution for manufacturers of smaller goods.
Sarine Technologies had
a tough second quarter, with revenue
falling 42 percent to $14.4 million for the three months to June 30, while
net profit plunged 69 percent to $2.7 million.
