Amazon.com will offer discounts of as much as 70 percent on selected diamond jewelry as part of its promotions for Black Friday, it said in a press statement. Other deals include up to 50 percent off selected luxury watches for women.
The U.S.
e-commerce giant’s discount bonanza will start November 20, a week ahead of
Black Friday, with new deals being added on www.amazon.com/blackfriday as often
as every five minutes for eight consecutive days. It will also offer 10 ‘Deals
of the Day’ starting at midnight on Thanksgiving, November 26, and up to another
10 more promotions on Black Friday, November 27.
Last year, holiday-season sales from Amazon’s e-commerce app
doubled in the U.S., and Black Friday had the fastest growth in mobile
shopping, according to the company. This year, a new feature has been added
to boost sales. ‘Watch A Deal’ will allow shoppers to pick the discount offer
they like most and receive a notification to their mobile device when the sale
is live.
“With app-only deals, customers will have
plenty of options when it comes to scoring great deals from Amazon,” Steve Shure, vice president of Amazon Consumer Marketing, said.
Limited-time
‘Lightning Deals’ will be available on “thousands” of products on each of the
eight days. Prime members will get 30-minutes early access to most of these
promotions, the company said.
Meanwhile,
U.S. department store
chain Macy’s announced it will cut diamond engagement ring prices by up
to 30 percent for Black Friday, starting the evening of Thanksgiving.
