RAPAPORT... Lucapa Diamond Company sold $6.9 million (AUD 9.1 million)
worth of rough diamonds at a recent tender of goods from its Lulo mine in
Angola.
The parcel of 1,552 carats fetched an average of $4,446 per
carat, the miner said in a statement Saturday. The sale featured a 227-carat,
D-color, type-IIa diamond recovered last month at Lulo, but the company said it
would not disclose the selling price for commercial reasons.
The latest sale brings total gross proceeds from Lulo rough diamonds
to $10.7 million since the start of 2017, after an earlier tender brought in
$3.8 million. All sales of goods from the mine have exceeded $76 million (AUD
100 million) since operations started in January 2015, Lucapa said.
