RAPAPORT...  Sunland Minerals, a joint venture between Botswana Diamonds and ALROSA, completed a round of fieldwork on prospecting licenses (PL) 206 to 210 in the Orapa region of Botswana. Work on the ground comprised of heavy concentrate sampling of soil and hard rock, in-field mineralogical analysis, electromagnetic surveying and ground magnetic surveying. Geologists identified a strong geological anomaly on PL210, considered prospective for the discovery of kimberlite, and therefore it will be drilled in September 2015.

On PL206 and PL207, further soil sampling and electromagnetic work is required to establish the source of the kimberlite indicator minerals, the partners stated. Work will also begin in Gope on PLs 135 and 136 where two magnetic anomalies have been identified, so a rapid program of soil sampling and transient electromagnetic surveying will be conducted to confirm the anomalies and the precise drill targets.

John Teeling, the executive chairman of Botswana Diamonds, said,  “We have identified a very strong anomaly on PL210, which we will drill.  The new ground that we have acquired in Gope also looks very promising.  The ongoing joint venture with ALROSA goes from strength to strength.”
