Premier Diamond Cutting Reviews Rough Sourcing Strategy

RAPAPORT... Premier Diamond Cutting Ltd, a Bangkok-based diamond, gem, and jewelry manufacturer, has informed its clients about changes the company is implementing, following a strategic review.

Premier was the first, and is currently the only, Diamond Trading Company (DTC -- the sales and marketing arm of De Beers) sightholder in Thailand, receiving its first sight over 25 years ago.

The DTC and Premier have enjoyed co-operation in striving towards driving demand for polished diamonds in Thailand and neighboring countries, Premier being a significant player in the region.

Premier has decided that, in light of the changes that are taking place at the DTC -- their reduced availability of rough diamonds, coupled with the growing demand for this rough from producing countries -- the demands of Premier’s diamond manufacturing operations and their customers, will, for the time being, alternatively be met by Premier arranging for supply from other outside rough sources.

This will ensure, as in the past, Premier’s ability to underwrite their promise to their clientele of consistent supply of diamonds, which, like DTC rough, abide with the stringent demands of the international diamond trade.

Premier is delighted that this decision will have no impact on the mutual understanding and cooperation between the two companies. In light of the changes announced this week by the DTC regarding their marketing department, The Premier, anticipates this element of the relationship being enhanced even further.
