RAPAPORT... Paso Robles, CA – December 4, 2007- The Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) located in Ramat Gan, Israel, a major diamond hub and a huge market for certification of diamonds, has recently redeveloped and repositioned their existing diamond grading laboratory to offer a wide array of products and services to the worldwide diamond industry. The laboratory will operate under the “World Gemological Institute” (WGI) name. IDI also secured the services of MVI Marketing, Ltd. (MVI) of California to implement a new marketing program in the United States.

Although IDI has operated the grading laboratory in Israel since 1977, and it has been a major source of diamond grading reports serving the Israel market, the decision to brand the lab as the “World Gemological Institute” (WGI) has only been made in recent years to accommodate the growing list of services offered by the company on a global level.

“The Israel Diamond Institute has operated the lab as an outreach of our non-profit activities to support the industry and has invested in the lab’s growth to become a global provider for consumers’ need for an independent, non-biased diamond grading report along with their diamond purchase," said Yinon Feldheim, managing director of the World Gemological Institute.

Feldheim goes on to say “we now know more about what the consumer wants based on our extensive consumer research done by MVI’s research division, Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council (JCOC,) and we plan on sharing this knowledge with retailers around the world to help their diamond sales.”

Beginning in January 2008, WGI will be making its official debut into the U.S. market, supported by the MVI team.

WGI has much to offer U.S. diamond dealers, jewelry manufacturers and retailers. With the assistance of MVI, an extensive, exciting marketing plan to inform the industry of the benefits of using this laboratory for diamond grading needs is being developed, backed by a five year consumer awareness and educational program.  For more information about WGI’s U.S. launch, please contact Liz Chatelain of MVI Marketing, Ltd.
