USPTO Approves Trademarks for Merit, GAA, Fred Meyer

RAPAPORT... The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) approved three industry-related trademarks on May 15.

Merit Diamond Corporation, which owns the ''SIRENA COLLECTION,'' was awarded its trademark for the diamond brand with the registration number of 4141401. The trademark application was first filed  on April 27, 2011. The Sirena Collection includes jewelry consisting of precious metals, diamonds and gemstones.

The Gemological Appraisal Association (GAA) was given the trademark ''THE FINGERPRINT SYSTEM FOR DIAMONDS'' with the registration number of 4141544. The system, which is described as an optical inspection apparatus used to evaluate and record characteristics of precious stones, was originally filed on June 29, 2011.

Retailer Fred Meyer Jewelers was issued the trademark name ''THE DIAMOND BRIDAL STORE'' with the registration number 4144443. Fred Meyer first applied for the trademark on July 1, 2011.
