ALROSA's Diamond Reserves Jump to 1.1B Carats

RAPAPORT... ALROSA’s diamond reserves at the start of 2016 increased
by 43.6 million carats to 1.11 billion carats by Russian state classification
standards, the miner reported.
The bulk of the company’s geological exploration in 2015
was carried out in the Yakutia region of Russia, according to a statement
February 26.
In 2015 the miner calculated and approved the reserves of
the Mayskoe deposit and the Dalnyaya, Nyurbinskaya and Botuobinskaya pipes. The
company’s geologists also carried out exploration at the Verkhne-Munskoe
deposit, the Zarya pipe and deep layers of Internatsionalnaya pipe.
Geologic exploration was completed on the Pionerskaya and
Pomorskaya pipes in the Arkhangelsk region. ALROSA is also proceeding with
exploration in Africa, the statement said.
Total financing of exploration came to $82.8 million (RUB
6.3 billion), of which about $80.2 million was allocated to operations in
Yakutia.
