RAPAPORT... Alrosa sold $10.7 million worth of rough at a large-stone
auction in Hong Kong, the Russian miner said Tuesday.
The 136 diamonds — each over 10.8 carats — weighed a
combined 2,234 carats, including 25 fancy-yellow stones, and fetched an average
price of $4,790 per carat. The auction took place during the September Hong
Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair.
Companies from Hong Kong, mainland China, Belgium, Israel
and India participated in the auction, Alrosa said.
According to Russian law, rough diamonds above 10.8 carats
