RAPAPORT... The Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) has published a
guide that helps jewelers ensure the products they sell comply with the law.
“Getting It Right – JVC’s Guide to Quality Programs for
Jewelers,” published with a grant from the International Gemological Institute,
provides “simple and useable” tools to implement quality-assurance programs,
according to a JVC statement January 12. The guide aims to increases awareness of
elements that jewelers should address to assure they are following the required
standards.
“All sellers at every level down to the retailer are
responsible for the products they sell,” said JVC’s president, chief executive officer
and general counsel Cecilia Gardner. “Engaging in quality-assurance programs
protects the seller from the risk of selling non-compliantly. Informing your
customers you have quality assurance programs lifts your reputation for
integrity and ethical business practices.”
The guide can be ordered from the JVC website. JVC
