Winston Nephew Dies at 82

(Rapaport...August 5, 2005) Jerome (Jerry) Winston, nephew of the late Harry Winston passed away on July 28, 2005, after a 50-year career in the industry.

The younger Winston was, from his own endeavors, an international jewelry entrepreneur. He was also a decorated World War II veteran earning both a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Winston entered the jewelry industry at Harry Winston in 1947 where he worked through 1970, and again from 1975 until 1982 as executive vice president.

He also held executive positions at M. Fabrikant & Sons, Feature Ring Company, Lazare Kaplan Inc., and he formed Jerry Winston Enterprises Ltd in 1985 with his wife Sylvia.

The game of golf was a favorite of Winston's, and he is said to have been one of the first members of the Old Westbury Golf and Country Club on Long Island, New York.

Upon retirement however, he and Sylvia relocated to North Carolina. Winston held the second-longest tenure at the 24 Karat Club of New York.
