RAPAPORT... Police have arrested two members of the gang suspected in carrying out the Graff store robbery at the Wafi City Mall in Dubai.

Dubai police chief Dahi Khalfan told reporters over the weekend that the two suspects were arrested and an extradition request had been filed for a third member of the gang said to be in an unnamed European country, the WAM news agency reported.

Khalfan said the gang leader had been caught while driving a hired car with the stolen diamonds in his possession. WAM reported that the diamonds have since been returned to their owners and that police valued the goods at around $4 million, dismissing earlier reports that as much as $14 million in goods was taken.

The gang raided the store on April 15 by crashing a car into the Wafi City mall Graff store, which they then looted in less than two minutes before fleeing the scene in a second getaway vehicle.

Khalfan explained that the second man arrested was an accomplice to the crime who had met the gang members after their arrival in the UAE and provided them with logistical support such as housing and visas. Following his arrest, the accomplice led the police to two stores where the robbers had bought fake pistols and a female traditional face cover, which they used in the robbery.

The nationality of the gang members has not yet been revealed. They are said to be linked to similar heists across Europe.
