Press Release: Luxeford held its debut fine jewels auction in November 2012, attracting many buyers and trade interest and the results were highly promising.

Among the diversified collection, an important pair of natural pearl ear pendants sold for $310,000 (HKD 2,400,000) and  two rows of a natural pearl and diamond necklace, measuring from 4.00 mm to 9.50 mm, were sold for $186,000 (HKD1,440,000) to an anonymous bidder against strong competition.  Natural pearls are extremely difficult to come by nowadays and demand in the market remains strong and competitive in southeast Asia.

Another highlight of the sale included lot 206, a pair of oval-cut diamond ear studs. The magnificent pair,  4.06-carat, D and 4.51-carat, VS1,  sold for $349,000 (HKD2,700,000).  Another piece attracting fierce competition was the set of lavender jadeite jewelry that sold for $77,400 (HKD600,000).  Jadeite has always been a timeless classic and its escalating demand in the market is undeniable.

Other outstanding results included lot 94, a set of intense emerald-green jadeite and diamond necklace and earrings fetched $32,500 (HKD252,000), which was five times higher than the low estimate. Lot 98, a jadeite and gold necklace by Carvin French, a famous jeweler, sold for $25,000 (HKD192,000), which was more than double the low estimate.

Our head of jewelry Asia, Edmond Chan, would like to thank everyone for joining us in this exciting event.  It is our pleasure to have served you and we look forward to seeing you in the spring of 2013.
