RAPAPORT... Willie Hamilton has stepped down as CEO of the Company of
Master Jewellers (CMJ), a network of UK jewelry retailers, the organization
said Monday.
Terry Boot, the group’s head of finance and business
operations, will have day-to-day control in the interim until the organization
finds a new CEO, according to CMJ chairman Michael Aldridge.
Hamilton (pictured) has been head of CMJ for 10 years, during which
time it has grown into a 158-member group with more than 400 individual stores
in the UK and Ireland. It has over 200 approved suppliers, including major
jewelry and watch brands.
“Willie has now decided to pursue a career opportunity
closer to his new home in the south of England, and will announce his new
appointment in due course,” Aldridge said, adding that Hamilton had “brought a
wealth of previous industry experience in operations and marketing to CMJ, and
we wish him well and all the best for the future.”

Speaking as a supplier to the CMJ group in the UK. Willie Hamilton has been a very strong leader for what is a very large and important group of independent jewellers. The amount the group has grown over the past 10 years cannot be over expressed. He may have been a marmite character for some within the group but he should be thanked for his passion, loyalty and achievements and he will be sorely missed. I for one think he is a big loss to the group.
