RAPAPORT... Okavango Diamond Company, a rough supplier owned by the Botswanan state, has appointed Marcus ter Haar as managing director, succeeding Toby Frears.

Ter Haar (pictured) was previously Okavango’s deputy managing director. He held positions at De Beers and at Debswana, De Beers’ joint venture with the Botswanan government, as well as at DTC Botswana, De Beers’ sightholder-sales division in the country. He had been involved in Okavango since its founding in 2013, the company said in a statement Tuesday.

Okavango, based in Gaborone, has access to 15% of Debswana’s run-of-mine production, with annual rough-diamond sales of about $550 million.
