RAPAPORT... Huawei Consumer Business Group has teamed up with the
Swarovski Gemstones Business to unveil two new versions of a premium smartwatch
the Chinese telecom company launched last year.
The release at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas
marks a “new female focus for the company,” Huawei said in a statement January
5.
The Jewel and Elegant editions – available from March
2016 – complement the Classic, Active and Elite smartwatches Huawei released
in 2015 and offer “stylish” options aimed at women.
The Jewel features 68 Swarovski zirconia dotted around
the rose gold-plated case, each measuring 1.5mm in size. The watch “glistens
and shines like nothing else available on the smartwatch market today,” the
company asserted.
The “more understated” Elegant edition has a “knurled” – or bumpy – pattern effect around its rose
gold-plated case.
Both editions are preloaded with 40 watch faces as on
the original model, including 10 “exclusive feminine designs,” the statement
added. Powered by Android Wear, both models are Android and iOS compatible.
They offer Bluetooth connectivity for wireless headphones, among a host of
other features.
