Designer Lines

By Amber Michelle
There was talent in abundance at the Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA)
2012 Diva Design Competition. This year, the WJA partnered with the AGTA Spectrum Awards competition and created a new division — Gem Diva, which honors women designers and their accomplishments with colored gemstones. Pieces in this new division, which were part of the AGTA Spectrum Awards competition, were judged by
Lita Asscher, president, Royal Asscher of America; Phyllis Bergman, president,
Mercury Ring Corp. and Lorraine DePasque, writer and jewelry expert.
The winners in the Gem Diva division are:

Bridal Wear: Pamela Froman, Pamela Froman Fine Jewelry — Moonstone, diamond and palladium “Ice Princess” cuff.

Business/Day Wear: Caroline Chartouni, Caroline C — Rose quartz, diamond and
18-karat pink gold earrings.

Classical: Dallas Prince, Dallas Prince Designs — Morganite, black and white diamond and 14-karat rose gold “Twilight Blush” earrings.

Evening Wear: Annie Fensterstock — White and fancy colored diamond, sapphire, blackened sterling silver and 22-karat yellow gold cuff.

up the competition to students and designers who may not have the means to actually produce a piece. This division was judged by Malak Atut, designer, Zaiken Jewelry;
Jane Bohan, designer, Jane Bohan Jewelry; Erica Molinari, designer, Erica Molinari
