RAPAPORT... Jewelry.com has introduced the Duo collection of diamond jewelry featuring two diamonds celebrating love. The website will be promoting this branded collection with its retail partners.

The hit television show “Dancing with the Stars” made its third-season debut with host Samantha Harris wearing a diamond necklace with more than 20 carats of ice from Los Angeles, California-based Kazanjian Bros.

Dancer, yoga instructor and jewelry designer Mauri Pioppo has created a talisman necklace for singer Sheryl Crow following her bout with breast cancer. The designer and singer collaborated on the design, which is named “Sundari” after the Hindu goddess of beauty and grace. The energy of the necklace, created from yellow gold, rose quartz and rock crystal, resonates healing. Fifty percent of the proceeds from sales of the necklace will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the foundation estimates that 212,920 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in American women in 2006.

Carl Blackburn has unveiled Neo Renaissance™, a new collection of cufflinks. Created in sterling silver with 18-karat gold and diamond accents, these designs were inspired by today’s business people and their diverse skills and knowledge, which Blackburn believes makes them the Renaissance men and women of this generation. Motifs include fleur de lis and heart and dagger insignias that harken back to another era, yet look modern through Blackburn’s interpretation.

The 23 winners of the first Tanzanite Celebration of Life Jewellery Design Awards were announced by the Tanzanite Foundation. Pieces were judged based on the design’s interpretation of the theme “Be Born to Tanzanite,” as well as for beauty, practicality and originality. Entries, which were judged in five design categories — Luxury Brands, Independent Designers, Fashion Accessories, Manufacturers/Retailers and Rising Stars — came from more than 20 countries. They were judged by a panel of international judges, including Peter Maddick, who developed the De Beers awards; Marcella Martinelli, fashion and jewelry stylist; Leo De Vroomen, jewelry designer; Sian Evans, jewelry tutor at Central St. Martins College and Sarah Hancock, editor of TJF magazine. The Tanzanite Foundation will be honoring the winners at a party in New York City in January 2007, where all the pieces will be showcased prior to a traveling tour of major international trade shows, galleries and museums.
