Designer Lines

Diamond and color gemstone slices continued as an important direction in jewelry design at the JA New York Winter Show held at Jacob Javits Center in early March. Black, champagne and gray diamonds took center stage. And when it comes to metals, everything is coming up rose gold. Rose-cut diamonds remain popular, adding a handmade vintage feeling to jewelry. Big, vibrant colors in cheeky combinations were also on trend. KC Designs introduced a tricolor diamond wrap ring that featured black, champagne and white diamonds set in rose gold. Forever Creations USA featured large, glamourous earrings with small diamond slices set in a random pattern in a feminine moon shape. Gumuchian debuted the Nutmeg collection of stacking rings in yellow gold and diamonds and walked a new bridal collection down the aisle. Named the Deco Ring (see Retail Rap),the collection highlights a center diamond in a mounting of baguette and round diamonds in an eternity style. Alternatively, the ring can be had with a diamond center stone and ruby, sapphire or emerald baguettes with round diamonds all around the shank. Looking more on the casual side, Angélique de Paris offered leather and gemstone pieces.

Zeynep Erol Jewelry bowed Istanbul-born designer Zeynep Erol’s three-dimensional architectural jewelry. Inspired by her years as a dancer, each piece moves with the flow of the one adorned with the jewel. Over at Jordan Scott Designs, the newest pieces were open geometric forms outlined in diamonds. Symbol jewelry remains strong for this brand and rose gold blossoms. For those who like big, bodacious color, Takat filled the bill with oversized, top-quality colored gems surrounded by E to F, VVS diamonds. The company also touts its made-in-New-York label. Lika Behar mixes blackened silver with 24-karat gold and diamonds for an edgy modern look softened by a handmade feel. There was more big color from Suzanne Kalan, who puts the focus on large colored gemstones. Dyanne Belle showed vibrant color combinations mixing fire opal and a blue sapphire slice in a bangle, along with other unexpected blends. Jane Basch continues her initial jewelry with the addition of bracelets and a new collection of Emo pendants. Vivaan by YNY focused on pastel colors along with rose-cut diamonds and delicate slices for modern sophistication.
